Pregnancy Week 7

Now it’s a beginning of week 8. How was my week 7?

Emotionally, still stable. Physically, kinda felt tired or weak all the time. It’s probably from one of the pregnancy symptoms “frequent urination”. Pretty much throughout the week, I woke up in the middle of night for bathroom break, which led me to a lack of sleep. Good or bad, I’m still working full time – need money for my baby right? – I don’t have time to take a nap during work days.

It wasn’t critical though. My work was pretty slow and lots of free time, possibly due to coronavirus. Yes. It’s getting serious this week.

Lots of sports and events have been canceled, the president declared national emergency, K-12 schools in Illinois is now closed through March 30th, and number of infected people in not only Illinois but entire US is increasing dramatically everyday.

I haven’t seen any pregnant women received a positive result and what’s happening to the baby yet. And who knows what’s gonna happen to the baby when they were born…

It’s just better to stay home if possible. That being said, probably I should refrain from going to the gym… ?! Article from Chicago Tribune about gyms and coronavirus is below (written on 3/9).

“Sweat cannot transmit the virus but high-contact surfaces, such as barbells, can pose a problem”

Anyways, back to my pregnancy.

Week 7 of my cravings and aversion got a bit weird. It’s pretty much like, “I’m craving for ramen!!!” to “thinking about ramen makes me sick” comes in few hours after I actually had ramen. Ramen is just one example. It happened to other food as well.

According to Google, during the first trimester I will gain up to 5 [lbs]. It’s going pretty well because of the food cravings, and it’s freaking me out a bit at the same time lol So far I gained about 3.5 [lbs] – not from the baby weight.

So, at one point, I told myself, this isn’t me! It’s just my mind problem. I can live without eating so frequently!!!

So I did try.

Just like normal non-pregnant days, I had a cereal at home. I didn’t have anything until my lunch time around 11:30am. Lunch was a normal portion. I tried so hard no to eat until I get home. Though, I had to stop at grocery store and take my dog out for a bit.

That was too long. Around the time I was at grocery store, I started feeling sick due to my empty stomach. It was a really bad idea…

After that experience, I tried to have a smaller portion every two hours. That two hours after meal is not like “oh, maybe I’m getting hungry”, that kind of feeling. It’s “Darn, I’m STARVING” that feeling LOL

It’s weird to see how pregnancy changes your habit so easily.

Luckily, besides food craving and aversion, my morning sickness is so mild and it doesn’t affect my daily routine at all. No vomiting or call in sick is necessary. I even went to a kickbox cardio class offered by LA fitness. I took it easy though.

A little bit of mild cramp started towards the end of week 7, but it’s not hurting at all.

Let’s see how my week 8 goes. At least due to coronavirus, our company has decided to ask all employee to work from home 3 days a week, 2 days the following week, 3 days the next week and so on, until they announce the additional info.

Sounds like I can relax a bit from next week. Better yet, my dog is going to be super happy 😉

Next weekend is my first OBGYN appointment. It’s better to think of questions to ask 🙂
