As a new wave of COVID-19 surging across the nation and Illinois, the new rules went into effect last Friday, which is now going backwards and in Tier 3 of Phase 4. The requirements include no indoor dining, limit in home gatherings to household members, grab and go food allowed at hotels, and so on. Even CDC is recommending to refrain from traveling over the holiday. Although, many people seem ignoring and visiting families anyways. We’ll see how it’ll get worsen after the holiday. For us, both of our families are just too far to visit and my husband cannot travel to Japan, so we simply enjoyed our family time with our baby here in Illinois. Aksel’s first Thanksgiving day!
No indoor dining huh? That’s too bad. As we started packing kitchen stuff already, we wanted to do our thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant or take out from them. Now no option for dine in.
Weber Grill Restaurant
Luckily, there are many restaurants serving special take out dinner for thanksgiving. Of which, many of them are 4-6 servings. That’s gonna be probably too much food unless we literally keep eating turkey until we move out. Although, some restaurants like Seasons 52 and Cooker’s Hawks menus were kind of attractive, but costs a lot because of the larger number of servings. So, we found this reasonable Weber Grill Restaurant that serves thanksgiving dinner for 2 (https://www.webergrillrestaurant.com/menu/thanksgiving-dinnerfortwocarryout-chicagolandonly/). It was $64 and including:
- Skillet Cornbread
- Caesar Salad
- Turkey (Dark & White Meat) w/ Gravy
- Cranberry Sauce
- Weber’s Sausage Stuffing
- Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Green Beans Almondine
- 2 Slices of Pumpkin Pie
Usual menu but pretty good isn’t it? Also, it’s kind of our tradition now to get some dim sum from MingHin Cuisine (https://www.minghincuisine.com/). So we ended up having so much food anyways. haha
Their food was great! Well seasoned and juicy turkey and I loved their mashed potatoes and stuffing! Oh and pumpkin pie!! It was really smooth and mouth melting💛 I enjoyed a slice with coffee. Perfect! MingHin dim sum is the best around this area I think. Just one complain from my husband who went to pick up this order – waiting time for pick up was like an hour!!!
Aksel & Orbit
I don’t know why in the world to a little baby, but Orbit seemed so intimidated and didn’t want to be around him at all. Every time Aksel cries, he literally leaves a room. Or if I bring Aksel near Orbit, he just gets surprised and leaves.
Until today.
It’s been 6 weeks since Aksel joined our family. It appears that Orbit is finally getting used to Aksel being around. For the first time, Orbit gave him a kiss and started hanging around him 💛 He has to wait for a bit longer until he can play with Aksel, but I can’t wait to see them both running together 🙂
