Yesterday was Cinco de mayo day! It’s kinda funny since there weren’t many Mexicans (or have I seen any in 10 years?) in Hawaii, this Cinco de mayo was almost non existent event in Hawaii. Instead, we celebrated Japanese Child day (or boy’s day) on May 5th and Hawaiian Lei day on May 1st. Of course we knew the term “cinco de mayo” leaned from mainlanders and such.
So we just decided to order take out from Mexican restaurant for lunch.
Honestly, we haven’t really looked around Mexican restaurants so we did a random pick from Yelp.
It’s on W. Algonquin Rd. and Roselle Rd. in Hoffman Estates, IL, called Taqueria Maya. The review is pretty good with 4.5 stars on Yelp. Below is the link.

We called ahead and placed an order. After 20min later, my husband headed to the restaurant to pick up. It seems like there were many people waiting for their orders.
Silly me, I forgot to take a picture of my husband’s enchilada… But here’s what we’ve got.
- Burrito Suizo w/ Pastor meat
- 4 Tacos (Chorizo, Chicken, Steak x2)
- Chicken Enchilada
- Large Guacamole (but they forgot to include in a bag… 🙁 )
It was just sad, as they were busy, they forgot to include our guacamole… Otherwise, their food was pretty tasty and satisfying! No doubt on 4.5 stars on Yelp 🙂
