Pregnancy Week 29

During this week, I had another ultrasound appointment. This would be the 4th time and 1st time in the third trimester.

The main focus was to see if the baby is growing in a normal range. As mentioned, I am now considered as a gestational diabetes. What’s causing a problem to the baby’s health is the high blood sugar.

Complications that may affect a baby:
  • Excessive birth weight
  • Early birth
  • Serious breathing difficulties
  • Low blood sugar
  • Obesity and type 2 diabetes later in life
  • Stillbirth

It also may increase a risk of C-section for the mother as well. Though, a good news is, blood sugar usually returns to normal soon after delivery.

Ultrasound Result

As a result, our baby is growing like a normal baby.

Not excessive weight yet and growing proportionally. What I’m glad to hear is the fact that the baby’s head is currently down!! Seems like the baby can still rotate around in my belly until the last minutes, so I hope he’ll stay this way 🙂

Heartbeat rate was 145bpm and the baby currently weighs about 2 lbs and 15 oz. It’s almost 3 lbs already!!

At this time, the technician took some photos in 3D. Great technology nowadays!!

Our baby was kinda shy and turning away from the camera, so she couldn’t get a nice front facing photo, but this is more than I expected. It still looks like a character that may be on Harry Potter though hahaha Hopefully we can get a better photo next time 🙂

Other News

We are getting more goodies from our baby registry. Thank you so much for the contribution!! The big stuff that my husband was working on during this week were a stroller and a baby crib. Things are getting ready ♥

Besides that, we signed up for a Maternity Tour (Hospital Tour). Which, it turned out due to Covid-19, the actual tour was canceled but they are holding a Zoom Q&A online. They had a virtual tour on their website, so I guess we kinda got an idea where I will be delivering a baby and a room for postpartum. I’m expected to stay in the hospital for 2 nights if virginal birth and 3 nights if C-section. We will be attending this meeting on 9/19. Also, due to inconvenience, they offered us 2 online classes for free. One is a child birth class (9/19) and the other is a baby care class (8/22). We will learn a lot of things about a baby 🙂

Speaking of the meeting, we also have scheduled a phone call appointment (which also due to Covid-19) with one of a pediatrician that my OBGYN doctor recommended. It’s gonna be on 9/15. My husband and I wished to see the actual room where our baby will be treated at, but I guess it can’t be helped.

Lastly, I have been monitoring my blood sugar level almost 2 weeks now. I started seeing a pattern when the blood sugar level spikes. The report I sent to my dietitian last week was pretty good. I see a spike once or even none, out of 4 measurements a day. It’s just I feel like I will never be hungry again because of the snack time. I’ll definitely gain my weight soon enough lol
