Pregnancy Week 25

Week 25 went pretty good as usual.

I started wondering when the baby’s position will be fixed. What I mean is “head’s lower and feet up”. I think at week 25, the baby can still rotate around and I feel kicks more on the lower stomach than the upper area. I mean at some point, the baby will be too big to be able to rotate around right?

I’m worried if the baby is upside down then the doctor may say I’ll need to have a C-section. I just wanna do whatever it takes to avoid a C-section birth… It sounds like in the US, about 32% of labor is done by C-section. What a high percentage! Actually it surprised me a lot. I heard an actual experience too.

“Doctors just prefer C-section because it’s quick and convenient.”

It sounds like one of my coworker’s daughter’s doctor was one example. She told her doctor that she wants a natural birth, but the doctor kept pushing C-section even on the labor day. She didn’t have any complications or conditions. Luckily her nurse was on her side and told the doctor that she can totally have a natural birth, so he finally stepped back and she had a natural birth. It’s crazy isn’t it?! I was told that if there is no medical conditions or complications, just tell them straight what I want and don’t let them do what they prefer, and always have a second opinion from other doctors/nurses. Good point!

Anyways, here’s the usual topic.

Baby’s Size at Week 25

So how big is the baby during this week?

The baby is about 13.6 inches (approx. 34.5cm) in height and weighs about 1.5 lbs to 1.75 lbs (0.7 ~ 0.8 kg). People say the baby is as big as an eggplant or head of cauliflower, or some website even says as big as a “TI-89” calculator. LOL Science nerds like me and my husband may understand more this calculator size than vegetable examples as its size varies. haha

I assume our baby is getting bigger and bigger, but during my weekly weight gain check, I didn’t see any differences since last week. So no weight gain or loss. I was little bit concerned about it, but my husband told me to think in a larger scale. He said that the total gain until I give a birth is 25 lbs average, and I’m about 16 lbs gained since pre-pregnancy time. I still have 14 weeks to gain 9 more lbs, which is less than 1 lbs per week, so nothing to worry about.

Ah ha! Makes sense 🙂

Experience

Besides those stories, what I keep in mind is that a small bit but to do some exercises. I do squat about 30 times a day and walk around a neighborhood with my dog (although it won’t be a constant walk – he makes stops A LOT). That’s about 30 to 45 min or so.

Yet, I still feel more fragile and weaker than before. Like, I started making noise when I sit, getting cramps on my legs and butt, and/or need a nap after running errands. I’m not sure if that’s from pregnancy or simply because I stopped going to a gym. Hopefully I gain my strength back after birth <3
