As we are planning to move out of Illinois in few weeks, I wanted to enjoy what’s we’ve missed out in those years. However, since the Covid infection case is increasing dramatically nowadays, it was even harder for us to plan the fun. If there were no Covid, I would definitely go to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, or even just cruising downtown Chicago for the last time. Besides, we haven’t checked out the largest Starbucks in Magnificent Mile either. Too bad…
Probably I haven’t talked to you about the move yet.
Yes, we are actually moving to Nevada in early December. My husband got a job offer at Giga Factory as an Automation Engineer and we decided to move there. Although, I may have to quit my job, which I’m still waiting for my boss to tell me what the HR says. If that’s the case, I’ll probably focus on taking care of Aksel, our first son, for a while.
Morton Arboretum Drive-Thru Illumination
Anyways, so I found the idea of going to see an illumination and luckily I could find an opening (lots of them at different locations were sold out). It was last Sunday, we went to the Morton Arboretum drive-thru illumination.
It was considered as their peak time and the ticket was $49 per car. It’s pretty pricy, but I’ve been to Morton Arboretum few times and I know the arboretum is huge! So I expected something spectacular. Because of the Covid-19 and having Aksel, with us, we wanted to avoid walking kind of illumination too, plus it’s cold you know. lol
Pet Policy
We were planning to bring our furry kid, Orbit too, but despite of the “drive-thru” illumination, pets were somehow not allowed. They said, “As a driving experience with no stops, all pets must be left at home”. Wait what? It kinda confused me. If the dogs are not allowed to leave a car, then why can’t we bring a dog with us? Right? I understand if there is a stop that we can take our dog out for their business and the arboretum doesn’t want that happening though.
Oh well. Poor Orbit was staying at home. The show was about 20-25min at the speed of 5 mph. You can turn on the radio to 88.5 and enjoy their Christmas/Harry Potter/Frozen2 music etc. to enhance the illumination show.
When you enter the gate, the whole parking was really nice with decorations! I was really excited for the show. I could see many people came to see their illumination. It was lines of lines of cars. Although we were driving really slow, the line was even backed up a bit at some point and we had to stop for a short time of period.
The entrance illumination was great! But the rest of the part was, I would say, okay. I think it’s because the arboretum was huge and the lighting was wide spread out. I mean overall, it was enjoyable for sure! If it’s worth $49? Then, no lol I wouldn’t complain if the ticket was around $30 per car though. Since it was mainly just two of us in a car, $49 was kinda a lot. If it was a family of 5, then sure. $10 per person, not so bad.
Of course Aksel wasn’t old enough to enjoy yet. He was sleeping the whole time! haha
