My husband and I went to the Bristol Renaissance Fair for the first time. It’s an event going on every weekends during summer (early July thru early Sept). If you love Medieval Times, you’d definitely enjoy it!
It starts right after you enter the gate. You are back in 16th century, joining a village festival day!
It’s located in Bristol, Wisconsin, right at the Illinois-Wisconsin border. It was just 45min North from Mt. Prospect and probably 1hr + some traffic if you are driving from downtown Chicago. Perfect for a day trip, escaping from the city 😉
We got there around 11am after dropping off our dog for a day care. Parking was $5/car and they’ve still got plenty spots left at that time.
This week’s theme was “Monsters and Magic”, and as a fan of Harry Potter, I couldn’t miss this week ;p Although, we should’ve planned ahead. It’s pretty big area and we didn’t have a chance to actually sit at any shows from the beginning to the end.
Here is the program of that weekend.
We did happen to stop at Sturdy Beggars Mud Show and luckily saw a guy eating a mud lol, watched a half of Tournament Joust and Royal Falconer.
It’s just there are lots of stage shows, marketplace and games scheduled in one day to look around, and of course, lots of places to eat and drink too!!
I’m not sure if they accept credit cards so just in case, we prepared cash to pay for everything.
Even if you have not much of knowledge about Renaissance time, I would highly recommend to visit at least once 😆
