We were thinking to go check out Lake Tahoe on the President’s day weekend since… the weather was supposed to be good.
But, the sunny day changed to snow a day before… ⛄ Although our car has all seasons tires, it’s not as good as snow tires or chain and we don’t have those yet. So we decided to go Washoe Lake instead. It’s funny Washoe Lake is just the other side of mountain but the weather was cloudy.
The park is located about 30min South of Reno. From the capital, Carson City, is 15min to the North.
So, we brought Orbit too and came down to the Lake.
At the entrance to the park, we noticed that there is an entrance fee. Just to enter the park is $5 per car, and camping, horse riding, boating etc. are at different cost.
It was cloudy, but here’s the first shot!
A half the purpose of this trip was to walk Orbit, but we didn’t find any walking path. So we just walked around the parking lot lol
While we were exploring, I spotted some… poops…!! Looking at it closely, I noticed it was from a horse. I’m not sure where you take your horse to in this park (maybe at the beach?), but yeah it was all over the place!!
There is also a boat ramp for boating in the park. It may be fun and crowded during the summer.
You can find tables and gills all over the park, even on the beach, so it may be nice to get together around the lake and enjoy the BBQ time 🙂
Within an hour, cold air and cloud came down from the mountain and it started raining. We got back to the car and drove around the camping site for the future reference.
As we were heading back to the exit, we found two wild horses! I’ve seen them from a distance, but this was my first time to see the wild horse this close. According to “Only In Your State”, there are about 2,000 wild horses in Virginia Range (between Reno and Virginia City). You get a higher chance to meet a wild one around this area!
Near where we live, the weather was sunny and sometimes cloudy all day today, according to the weather news.
At least that’s what it says. But the rain continued all the way to the house. Some says “the weather in the mountains is volatile”, but we only expect few days of rain in a month throughout a year. If the forecast doesn’t predict rain accurately, we don’t really need one LOL
Sadly, 2 days out of 3 during the president’s day was rain… I’d like to try Lake Tahoe when the weather gets warmer!
