Today was my half day. It’s one of benefits of my company. I work 9 hours a day and get a half day off every week during summer. I came in at 7:30 and worked until 11:30, then head to meet my friend for lunch.
We went to eat at Pho Chu Hai – Pho N Grill in Glendale Heights, IL. I personally love their pho. I wanted to try their vegetable pho w/ chicken broth as I always go for a slice beef and meatball. It’s kinda my rule if I go to a new Vietnamese restaurant I must try their slice beef and meatball pho, but this place is not. It’s actually my third time. I thought about vegetable and got an usual pho. The reason? 1. I hate mushroom. Sometimes vegetable pho comes with mushroom so I have to ask a waiter to make sure they don’t include it in my soup. My husband always tells me what kind of Japanese I am to hate mushroom lol 2. the price was $1 more expensive than their regular meat pho. Yeah yeah yeah I know it’s just a buck, but I was like, why meat is cheaper than vegetable?! Anyways, usual one is of course outstanding lol I remembered their portion was pretty big, so I ordered a small size. I regret my decision… I should’ve ordered a large one. I was just so starving :p
We were kinda stayed in for like 2 hours, then we went to sing Karaoke.
Moved from Hawaii, I’m surprised that the Japanese Round 1 is in Illinois but not in Hawaii. No surprise as Hawaii is right next to Asia and how many Asian cultures are influenced in Hawaii.
First time I tried Round 1 was in Naperville. They have Bowling, Karaoke, and Arcade games and Purikura (which is abbreviation of Print Club). I remember it was so popular back in Japan when I was in high school.
This place we went was in Stratford Square Mall in Blomingdale.
On a weekday afternoon was pretty cheap. $6/hour for Karaoke. They have Japanese music system so so many variety of Japanese songs are available. One thing they gave us a hard time was a selection of either “you’ll have 2 mics and Japanese only song” or “you’ll have 1 mic for Japanese and English song” LOL I was like… really?lol So what??? A microphone is somewhat connected to the system and they only have 1 that can do dual languages?? I just needed a “microphone” that does a simple job… Well, they said they can change our plan anytime if we wanted to, so we just stuck with Japanese only option. It turned out no problem for just 2 hours. It was still nice to have option though. Overall, it’s super clean and I would go back to this place!
Oh one more thing. They don’t allow you to bring an alcohol in a room. They have a bar right outside of Karaoke rooms and you can drink alcohol as much as you want though :p
