Pregnancy Week 30 & 31

There are a lot of things happened during these weeks.

Week 30

At week 30, I had a 7th OBGYN visit. Typical procedures. Although, when the assistant measured my belly size, she told me mine is still behind. I can see it kinda small still, but I have 2 more months to go, so we’ll see. At least our baby won’t be a giant due to my gestational diabetes, I guess??

Another thing that my doctor said was that I have to come in every week after week 32 to do a non-stress test (NST). Typically they will start around week 36, but since I’m diabetic, the doctor from other hospital that I’m seeing for the recent ultrasound visit and gestational diabetes recommended to start early. Seems like every doctor has different opinions though. The non-stress test is a way of checking on your baby’s health by recording baby’s movement, heartbeat, and contractions. Something that I will use while in labor, sounds like. I’m gonna start seeing my doctor a lot from now on.

Week 31

Week 31 started with a ER visit. It was Sunday morning. I started experiencing vaginal bleeding. The office was, of course, closed, but I called in and requested to connect to someone that I can talk to. Fortunately, Dr. Pozzi from my OBGYN office was working in the morning in labor and delivery room, so I managed to talk to him. He basically said “any bleeding is something I should concern about” and told me to come to the labor and delivery room through ER.

Labor and Delivery Room

The labor and delivery room was pretty cozy. I didn’t see the entire space, but at least where I was led to – not the actual labor room, there were only 3 beds. When we got there, Dr. Pozzi was done with his shift and already left to home, but a nurse, Michelle, took care of me pretty good. She began with bunch of questions – some related to the bleeding and mostly personal questions. I would say it almost lasted about a half and hour. Then, she checked my blood pressure, which was still perfect, and placed 2 sensors on my belly to monitor baby’s heart rate and activity. It’s probably the non-stress test. Our baby’s still active and healthy. What a relief!! I kinda thought in the past 2 days, the baby was less active.

They also tested my urine sample and blood.

We had to wait for an hour to get the result back from a lab. In a meanwhile, Michelle brought me a hospital lunch ♥ I almost forgot it was already a lunch time.

Hospital Meal

I’m still in carbohydrates controlled diet, so I skipped an apple juice and brownie, and shared grapes and lemonade juice with my husband though.

When just about finishing up my meal, the test results came back. No issues in both urine sample and my blood. Michelle talked to Dr. Pozzi on the phone, and since they didn’t see any critical results, they let me go home. She suggested me to start counting baby’s kicks everyday and told me to schedule an appointment with Dr. Pozzi within a week.

Later the week

Bleeding stopped after ER visit and back to normal discharge.

I made an appointment with Dr. Pozzi on Wed. and had a follow up visit. He examined and it looks like it’s back to normal. He is a quiet guy, but it didn’t seem he was worrying about anything.

My husband and I are both engineer so we just wonder what caused it, although I guess it’s not a doctor’s job to find out the cause if they don’t see any problems on mom and baby to treat.

Anyways, now I’m back to normal and baby’s moving more and kicking harder. I started counting kicks and continuing to monitor my blood sugar level and exercise. So far, I’m almost having a perfect week of no spikes on my blood sugar level! 2 more days to go. Wish me luck!!
