Japanese – Satsumaimo Gohan (Sweet Potato Rice)

It is not quite the same as a Japanese Murasaki sweet potato, but since we had a yam, we tried one of the Japanese dish called Satsumaimo Gohan. Pretty simple and easy 🙂

Satsumaimo Gohan on the Left Bottom

Ingredients:

  • 1 Yam
  • 2 cups of Rice
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Sake
  • Sesame

Step 1:

Peel yam skin and cut in a mouthful size. Soak in water for few minutes.

Step 2:

Rinse rice and set in a rice cooker. Fill water as usual. Add 1 tsp of salt and 1 tbsp of cooking sake.

Step 3:

Place cut yam on the rice and stir well. Cook rice and when it’s done, mix the rice well. Serve the rice and add sesame on the top if you like. Now it’s ready to eat 🙂
