Yummy Korean Fried Chicken

Today’s restaurant pick is Bonchon in Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg IL.

Bright and Clean, nice atmosphere
Korean Beer

When it comes to Korean fried chicken, there is our favorite place on Oahu, Hawaii. It’s called Itchy Butt.

Here’s the Yelp for Itchy Butt: https://www.yelp.com/biz/itchy-butt-honolulu-2

Anyways. The restaurant Bonchon. According to Google, it sounds like Bonchon means “my hometown” in Korean. I love the name 🙂

It looks like they have many places in the U.S. from East to West.

So, how’s their chicken?

Oh yes! It’s crispy outside and their sauce is mixed well with the juicy and tender chicken and it’s delicious!

Honestly, I hardly could believe we were actually having a white meat. The texture is almost like a … fish? It’s kinda reminded me of fish and chips. Probably it’s similar batter is used.

It turned out so crispy and you can hear crunchy sound every bite you make. It’s perfect!

Chicken Strip 10pcs with radish ($12.95)

In addition to its amazing chicken, each piece was pretty big.

Their sauce selection is below.

  • Spicy
  • Soy Garlic
  • Sweet Crunch
  • (or Half and Half)

So, we did half and half and picked their “Spicy” and “Soy Garlic”. Their spicy chicken was pretty good! It is actually spicy haha

Besides chicken, we ordered are below.

Bibimbap with bulgogi ($14.95)

I personally have never seen any bibimbap with quinoa in it. I love this!

Next dish is a good size (baseball+ size?) of salmon avocado ball.

Salmon avocado ball ($10.95)

Inside is a mix of avocado, cucumber, imitation crab, and fish roe. It tastes like a California roll without rice?? haha It is delicious, but I don’t mind a smaller size for this.

Salmon avocado ball inside.
Bull Dak ($14.95)

After that, their bull dak has arrived. It’s a spicy chicken with rice cakes, and the dish comes with a white rice.

Not only I enjoyed their food, but also their service was great.

In conclusion, Bonchon will be in our “go to list” for fried chicken in Chicago 🙂
