Chicago Kalbi in Chicago IL

Finally finally finally I’ve visited this restaurant!!!

Since it’s closer to downtown, we were kinda avoiding this place…lol I mean, of course, avoiding traffic.

I heard so many good reviews about this Japanese-Korean style BBQ (Yakiniku in Japanese), like it’s the closest to Japanese Yakiniku or they have the best meat etc.

Here’s the link to Yelp: https://www.yelp.com/biz/chicago-kalbi-chicago-2

And their official website: https://chicago-kalbi.com/

I can see so many baseball players visited here too!

We got there around 6PM on Saturday night, party of 5.

We didn’t make a reservation so our wait time was about 30min. Not so bad.

Entrance

Here’s the menu. Korean appetizers as well as Japanese and they serve Japanese beef too.

We’ve got a BanBan-Tofu, Yukke, Big Shrimp Gyoza and Pajun.

Ban Ban Tofu (Cold tofu dish topped with sliced cucumber, daikon radish, green onions, nori served with spicy sauce) $6
Yukke (raw beef – Japanese style steak tartar topped with uzura egg yolk) $12
Big Shrimp Gyoza (Fried shrimp dumplings with beef and vegetables) $6
PaJun (Grilled pancake with assortment of squid, beef & green onions battered ) $11

Pretty good start.

Now here’s the grill.

We ordered BBQ meats to grill.

Jo-Tongue, Kalbi, Roast, Jo-Mino, and Ton Toro + Assorted Vegetable.

Jo-Tongue (Fattier & Smoother Tongue) $17
Kalbi (Japanese style sliced short rib meat) $21
Roast (Thinly sliced choice ribeye beef in sauce) $19
Jo-Mino (Best part of tripe) $18
Ton Toro (Pork’s cheek meat in ginger sauce) $18
Assorted Vegetables (Mushrooms, Sweet Potatoes, Eggplants, Zucchini, Cabbage, Onions, Carrot) $6

Everything is soooooo good!! All the meat quality, it is definitely similar to what you’ll get in Japan and highly recommended!

At the same time though, it was like how many slices of meat did I have today? haha
